CPU details 1 Month, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hi there,
First of all have to say I am impressed with your site! I just wanted to ask if you can advise as to just how much detail I need to know off by heart about CPUs for the Essentials exam? Is knowing the package, sockets and pins enough, or should I know my L1 cache sizes, multipliers, internal/external speeds too?
Thanx

Hi Herrflick,

I would think that if you're familiar with the packages and sockets, you should be in good shape. I don't recall anyone mentioning anything about the particulars of cache or the speeds. Make sure you know what they are and what they do, just in case.

Since Windows 2000 is covered in the exam, you may want to go back as far as the Pentium or at least the Pentium II, but I wouldn't worry about anything older.

Good Luck,
Bill
