You can take the exams in any order. Most start with the 601 since it's a required exam and contains much of the same material as the electives. You can also schedule the exams however you like. You can take them back to back, a day apart, month, whatever. Check with your local testing center for available dates and times.

Here's a link to the CompTIA FAQ. Set the category to the appropriate exam and it will provide a list of related questions and answers. Then if you still have more questions, check back again. Be glad to help.

As long as you are ready, take them all. Walk out Certified Best advice... sign up for the tests and pay for them. Call them and schedule it. That way you don't procrastinate. Then study all the way up to the day of the tests.

Also get some used text books either from the college book store or better yet search online. Most student either sell their books back to the store or it sits on the bookshelf in their home collecting dust.

While your at it, dig out an old computer that you can dismantle and get really up close and personal with. It's hard to beat hands-on. Maybe you've got an old one in the garage or your neighbor might have one they're not using any more.

Hey, ... get it while it's hot. We're kind of on a roll here.
