 Career prospects
Hi I qualified as a Mechanical Engineer in 2007 with a second class Honours. My final year thesis was optimised thermal design of electronic components using Finite Element Computer Modeling for which I received a 95% mark for. I have had a few temp jobs as Engineer Technician but noting great so my career is at a stand still at the moment working a minimum wage job unrelated to any technical feel. I am currently studying CompTIA A+ and Security + as I always had an interest in computers and security and believe this may give me a chance to get back to some technical work position. Any advice on what jobs I could go for? And the best way to get experience I really like the Professor Messer youtube video series. I am in Waterford, Ireland.

 Re: Career prospects
Hmm... you seem to have an engineer's mind...
A+ is just the entry point to IT. That'll get you a decent foot in the door, Learn Unix or a programming language
I'm currently learning Unix/VBscript/Python2.7.
....and don't worry if you aren't in the field you wanna be in, I was the same way, all jobs serve as lessons in some respect, just keep studying, go get those certs and then you'll have a foundation to show employers you're serious and have the ability to be technical.
Get your CCNA if you plan to pursue networking or security AFTER your current cert studies.
The PC shop I worked at only offered 8.00USD an hour which after awhile, seemed to be more about the experience, it was good training. A+ can get you some great entry jobs you can work up from. It's how I got my foot in the door for some cool jobs in IT. Kent C.
