Post Professor Messer Videos vs. Mike Meyers
I am currently studying for the a+. I have be reading Mike Meyers All in One. I have also been watching Professor Messer's videos. I am wondering if I need to know everything in the chapters in the All in One. The videos here dont go as in depth as the book. I am new to IT and Im not sure if im studying way to much for the exam or not. I do like the book and want to now everything in it but i am wondering for the exam do i need to know this book inside and out? I would appreciate any insight on this. Thanks in advanced

While it may seem like information overload, it is important to address the fundamentals. A lot of the content could be considered legacy (IDE and EIDE for example), but having the knowledge however remote, helps your knowledge base. Those that understand the old, have a better understanding of the new. However, Mike Meyers intended the all in one to be a compendium of sorts and can be used anyway you want. Imo, it is knowledge verses just knowing what you need to know for the examinations. I guess a good portion of the content probably will not be in 701/2, but knowledge is priceless, however redundant it seems. My penny's worth.
