Post CPU,memory bus, address bus,and external data bus
I thought the cpu connected to the northbridge (mch) via the fsb and then to the ram via the memory bus, but i was doing some questions online and one of the questions asked how the cpu communicated with the ram, i thought it was the memory bus but that wasn't an answer, the answer turned out to be the address bus.

Another answer for a question said the external data bus provided a channel for the flow of data between the cpu and ram-again no memory bus mentioned as a option for a answer.

Somewhere else it said the external data bus is another name for the FSB, is that correct.

As you can see i'm very confused about how the cpu actually works with the ram, could someone explain these busses in a simplified way?

The FSB connected to the Memory Controller Chip that resided on older Northbridges. Current CPU's have the MCC on die.
