 Re: SYO-301 Book?
I know that the book you are talking about is written by Emmett Dulaney. He has books on A+, Security+, Novell, Linux, and Microsoft certs. I can't say much for the book. But at first glance, he seem to be knowledgeable from the reviews on his books. But as usual I would get a second book from another author, just to play it safe. IMHO

 Re: SYO-301 Book?
I totally understand the "I honestly have to say that reading two books in my opinion for this test is a little overkill." statement. I wasn't trying to get you to read two books. I have found it easier to have a second book to use as a resource to help clarify any subject matter that the first book may miss. I figure with two books, Professor's video's, and some type of testing software. Passing should be a sure thing, if you put a few hundred hours of studying. lol
I haven't taken the 301 so I am totally talking from a 201 standpoint. I used Darril Gibson's book for the 201, and score really good. It was a hard exam, don't get me wrong. I had to really think about the questions and judge from what I have seen from CompTIA's exams in the past to help me. That is the reason I always say if you take the Network+, to go ahead and take the Security+, if your going to anyways. All the info is fresh in one's mind and makes learning the Security+ info way easier.
Also with the 301 being so new, it's going to be hard to get a good review on any of the books out there right now. You may have to just go with what you feel is the best book. If Darril Gibson had a 301 book out, I would buy that one first. But from what I have seen he doesn't, so Emmett Dulaney may be the best bet right now.

 Re: SYO-301 Book?
To All - I think most of us have our fingers crossed waiting for Darril Gibson to release the 301 edition of Sec+. In the meantime, I went ahead to purchase "CompTIA Security+ Review Guide, Includes CD: Exam SY0-301 by James M. Stewart" from Amazon. The content is great so far and I think he did a pretty good job on his previous 201 edition, even to be compared to Darril's 201 book.
I keep checking for Darril's 301+ on Amazon and when I see it on pre-order, I will notify the forum. Anyone who sees it too can notify the forum too. All the best in our quest for more IT Certifications!!!!
