Re: Tips for the Comptia network+ exam
Repition is the key with these exams. You could also use mindmaps, flashcards and also do lots of test questions. Make sure you practice troubleshooting using the windows CLI i.e. ping -t - l, tracert , nslookup , netstat. Net+ doesn't go into much depth on that but you gotta know it for exam as they probably will ask you the basis. Make sure you comfortable with knowing about differences between hubs, switches , routers and also IDS/IPS, firewalls. I don't recall seeing any subnetting questions on the Net+ exam but you do need to know it. It may come up. As long as you can subnet in under 30 seconds in your head you will have no problems.

Re: Tips for the Comptia network+ exam
For better or for worse, subnetting is not something to worry about to pass this exam. If you can subnet, all the better! You will definitely need to know subnetting in higher level networking classes -- as thoughtlessly as you breath and walk.
For the Network+, know what a classful network is, how to identify a Class A, Class B and Class C network, and know the subnet masks associated with them. Know what a network address, broadcast address, and host address is.
The exam needs you to memorize a lot of terms and concepts. Most definitely, flash cards -- the 3"x5" variety of electronic -- will help you. I hear the Anki card program that is mentioned in the Open Forum a fantastic tool.
