Post Real life scenario - question
I found this message today:

August 4, 2009:

Earlier today, we started recieving a large number of reports of players' scores not saving properly. Upon investigation, it seems that our servers are having trouble keeping up with today's record traffic levels.

We take score-related issues very seriously. For that reason, we have taken the game offline temporarily while we address these issues.

We're very sorry for the inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience as we work hard to get the game back up as soon as possible.

Thanks for playing Bejeweled Blitz!

I immediately thought "load balancing", but then I wondered how that would relate to losing saved data? Is this possible? Does their message make any sense? Is it a programming issue or a traffic issue? It seems to me that if there were a traffic issue the problems would be more of the slow or unavailable connection sort, rather than "not saving a score" after having played without bottleneck of any sort.
