Post What should I spend the most time on?
I'm taking the Network+ exam April 26th. I'm about halfway through Mike Meyers study guide and have been watching Professors videos. I'm starting to get a grasp for the stuff i've read up on, but it seems very easy to become overwhelmed. Are there any specific topics I should focus more of my attention on and certain ones I should pass by? I also got the Practice Exams book with 700 practice questions I havent even begun to read that yet.

Hi There

I took my Network+ exam last week and passed. I used the Mike Myers book along with the Professor Messer videos.

You really need to know the whole lot im afraid, however i found this easier by memorizing the 9 step trouble shooting process, OSI model, private address ranges etc.. This way you can write all this out at the beginning of the exam, on the card that the test centre provides and quickly refer back to it during the exam.

I also bought some RJ-45 Jacks and wire crimper's (don't cost a lot of money) and made a load of patch cables and some cross over ones, you soon get the wiring patterns in your head after making a few and you get a great sense of achievement as well :-)

Thanks, I appreciate your help. I haven't gotten to the 9 step trouble shooting process yet, but that sounds like a good idea to memorize them things to write out. I'm trying to get a better grasp on the subnetting but I'm still not too comfortable with it. Were there a good number of questions involving this? Thanks again!

I struggled with subnetting as do a lot of people.

I didn't get many questions on the subject of subnetting or CDIR notation, however that doesn't mean that you wont.

Its a very important part of the exam and will be a part of your job.

Just keep going with it and once you grasp it you will feel so happy :-)

Remember your not alone It is tricky. If the exam was easy it wouldn't be worth doing....

What part of subnetting are you finding difficult?

Hey
http://www.youtube.com/danscourses#p/c/113F286C864FEB90
Dan Course that I link he explain subnettinng really to understand. video of CCNA if you going for it. I have no cert yet but I'm get A+ Net+ Sec+ and CCNA end of summer at least is my goals. I have broad knowledge of networking and security. The net+ I think it be easy to pass for me since It was my major for my school and I studies a lot in networking. I hope that will help you guys to understand IP subnet. I know it default to learn but remember the magic number after it should be easy to subnet once you get magic number. You figure the network and broadcast. I am focusing just A+ now I think that be my hardest cert test beside CCNA. I hope help you guys out

I got a wide mix of questions in my exam, didn't seem as bad as i thought it would have been (bearing in mind i took and failed the microsoft exam the day before so i was a little uneasy about the N+ even though i knew it was easier)

One thing i found quite useful, was Prof Messers A+ toolkit video it's useful for the N+, it tells you about all of the different tools used, as i got quite a few questions about what tools you would use for a certain task such as finding / tracing cables in walls.
