Post Microsoft Deployment Toolkit -- a good website with videos
Here is a website I came across that specializes in Microsoft deployment technologies, mostly centering around Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2012.

http://www.deploymentresearch.com/Videos.aspx

The 70-680 does not go into WDT as deeply as these videos will take you. They are more appropriate study material for the 70-681. Just the same, for those interested in continuing education, I think you'll find the videos education and cram-packed with information -- just like those produced by our good Professor.

For you 70-680 candidates out there, I've come to believe it was premature for me to point you to the website mentioned in my original post. The following site would be more educational because the 4 videos (more importantly video's #2 thru #4) actually take you through Windows distribution in a small enterprise setting. This link is for the first video:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ff686883

The videos will come across at first glance as a marketing and sales piece (especially video #1). There is some truth to that observation. But quickly they get into showing each technical step of distributing Windows in a small- and small-to-medium company.

So if you find yourself confused with the topic, and also find yourself muddling through your labs, you could try to mimic the tasks and actions shown in videos 2 through 4. I believe it will make AWIK, DWT, WDS and the utilities contained in them (OSCDIMG, IMAGEX, DISM, and making a bootable PE) a whole lot more understandable and put into context.

At this point, it is apparent to me that the microsoft's distribution technology is quickly moving into new sofware products and methodloogies. This seems especially so with Windows distribution in large enterprises -- those with 500+ people, as microsoft defines one.

I'm finishing you my study in the area of Windows deployment using the AIK, WDT, and WDS. I'm taking the 70-681 in a couple days.

As I wind down my self-study here, I wanted to add that the book "Mastering Windows 7 Deployment" was very helpful. Written in a conversational style, it takes you step-by-step through deployment exercises you can duplicate in your lab.

I passed the 70-681 a few hours ago. I wanted to pass along a couple post-exam thoughts.

1) the Mastering Windows 7 Deployment book mentioned in another post helped quite a bit. The microsoft documentation, as good and through as it is, doesn't highlight potential testing areas as does this book.

2) there were more Office 2010 questions than i anticipated. The above mentioned book covers it lightly, but you'll need to use microsoft's technet to answer several of the questions. Knowing that technet-level knowledge helped me pass my last microsoft exam, i spent some time studying the deployment of Office 2010 there. Probably passed because it it.

Onward and upward, as they say.

Congratulations on the pass!

70-681 is the desk top deployment upgrade version 70-680, right? So it would be logical that it would have questions geared to deployment/integration of the combination - since Office 2010 products are built with even greater emphasis on expcted use with windows 7. Office 2007 was a great product, but it was mostly built around XP and Vista, meaning it didn't seem to depend on the "hooks" and security changes available in win 7... besides, many companies never really made the move from office 2003 since they were wringing out the last few dregs of XP to avoid Vista. :|

It's listed as an equivalent for 70-680 - so it's all good.
