Hey, i ran across this site and checked out a few of the A+ courses. I am currently looking to get an entry level job in IT. Is this a good place to start? Any other recommendations?

A+ and Network+ are excellent certs to start since they are not very expensive to study for and the cert. exam fee is reasonable.

The A+ is a good place to start if you want to get into IT support, but it's important to realise that there are many facets of IT. For instance, CAD, Web Design, Communications, Programming, etc.
Is IT support the area that you're most interested in? |

Hello all,
I am in the same boat as you. I am trying to transition without taking a huge pay cut. I have a plan to transition but am wanting to find out more about some potential membership organizations and social networking opportunities. I am also looking for a mentoring program of sorts. My goal is to socialize with people near me (Seattle, WA). Any help/guidance would be appreciated...Thank you! Brian |

I am a Soldier and also new to IT. I am currently working on A+ and have my 701 exam this month. I know this post is a couple years old so you might have found what you are looking for by now. I have looked at the current job market for washington State for Network Administrator and Network Security. There are a LOT of jobs and they all pay 50k+ per year for noobs like me. |
