Post Passed Security+. Some tips for that.
Hello. Yesterday I passed SY0-201 and got 890/900. That was not simple but exam on Network+ was harder for me.
Everywhere in forums there are advices to study by Darril Gibson's book however, I couldn't find its electronic version and purchased a book by Emmet Dulaney, Sybex. Nice book and covers everything so I advise to read it also. Moreover, I used CBT Nuggets video course, very useful thing. Don't forget to check yourself on trial tests, from MeasureUp for instance.
The most questions were about first 3 topics. I was surprised about not having a lot of questions about policies, they were hard to me.
Good luck to everybody.

Much Respect on the 890!! Got to thank you for turning me on to CBT Nuggets for the CCNET/CCNA. Wish I new of these for the Security+. The CCNA Video's are by far the best I have found. It is really filling in the holes that A+,Network+, Security+ didnt go deep enough into like TCP Windowing and Goes deeper down the rabbit hole on two address concept.
I understand now why you need the Comptia certs before tackling Cisco, really feels like an extension of A+ and Network+.

I think Darril Gibson's book can be bought through Amazon. The electronic version that is sold there is for Kindle, but if you don't have Kindle you can download client software from Amazon and have it installed on your PC. It's a very easy to follow book and some topics have a really good explanations there.

I am starting Chapter 8 of Darril Gibson's book right now. I have had it since last Monday, and have really enjoyed it more then all the others (A+, Network+). It is clear and very fun to read. When I finish, I will review all the Chapters again, and more then likely read Mike Meyers Passport for fill in. I have notice that all the Security + books going on sale, CompTIA must be preparing to go to Security + 2010 version soon.

Oh and Congrats, I hope I do as good as you did. Thanks for the info all.

I found out today that the objectives for the new Security+ exam have already been published by CompTIA. It will be labeled SY0-301 and they say they will release it at the end of 2011. They are available for download in pdf on CompTIA's website.

@Piotr

When I typed the 2010, I didn't even think about the fact that it's December 2010. lol That makes more since that it would be 2011 or even 2012. Won't matter, I will be taking the 2008 within the a couple of weeks. But I will more then likely do the next one also.
