Post Study Guide Help!!
Hello,

This is Adam from England and great to find this forum. There are lots of study material to choose from for your A+ examination. I would like to ask you to give me some idea please. Which one I should follow to pass and I can't afford to spend so much. It means I am looking something like all in one practice material.

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Post Re: Study Guide Help!!
Hi Adam,

Always good to hear from a fellow countrymen. I did my A+ last year and the resources I used were as follows

Professor Messer's free training videos
Mike Meyers A+ Passport book (nice small book and good if you already have some hands on experience)
Mike Meyers A+ questions(available on his site but the passport+book came with a practice exam. More exams on his site)
CBT Nuggets A+ training vids (excellent and goes into a lot of detail but very expensive although i was fortunate with this)
I also built a spare XP machine to practice a few things on but in reality probably overkill although I benefited from using it for other things.

If you already have some experience building and repairing PCs then all you really need is Meyers book, exam questions and the Professor's free videos. If this is your first compTIA exam then it is worth getting used to the format by using Meyer's practice exams. No harm in using CBT nuggets if you want a deeper understanding.

I added the Examcram A+ by David L Prowse to my reading material. Picked up the Meyers Sixth Edition second hand. The two together do compliment each other for me. Aside from the W7 element, the sixth edition of the Meyers book is stil relevant.

Post Re: Study Guide Help!!
To prepare for the exams (701 and 702) I took one semester in the local collage for A+ Certification. In the class we studied using the book by Andrews. See my comment for that book:http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A3RETWQC7ZQEYK/ref=cm_cr_pr_auth_rev?ie=UTF8&sort_by=MostRecentReview
After the class studies on my on my own for 3 months:
Had flash cards for the 701 for each new item I learned.
I purchased Mike Meyers book (+CD practice exams) , read it once. I purchased Exam Cram Practice exams + CD.
I purchased “31 Days Before Your CompTIA A+ Exams.”
Which is a great reference book with good summaries.
Use the CD's practice exams from day 1.

I passed the 701 2 weeks ago and the 702 2 days ago. The 702 is by far harder and required different way of studying.
Many of the questions in both tests I have not seen before, but because you have to choose between 4 choices you can use the process of elimination to get to right answer. Just stay cool.
One problem with the study materials that they are not organized for the certification tests.
Had a notebook to summarize different topics.
Good luck
