I'm approaching the midway point of my CompTIA Network + class and am curious to know if anyone might know where I might be able to get flash cards for studying the many acronyms and definitions that will required knowledge for the certification exam.

If you have a halfway decent inkjet printer, you can make your own. I've been doing so for several years, Most office/stationary and big-box computer stores sell blank Index cards in 3x4, 5x6 or other sizes which can be printed using your inkjet printers - ones which have envelope printing usually have a lot of functions which people skim over.

Once you are through with them you can also make a little ROI, sell or give them away to friends or ???'s.

I started out by printing them manually - until I noticed that my printer could do the job. It's just an extention of taking notes.

Making the flash cards manually (whether you printed hem by hand or did data entry keyboarding - I found was an excellent way of involving another level of memory (muscle memory) and deeper study habits.

The more senses you can involve in your study - the better the retention. Think of it as sensual immersion. Like when you work in a study group: when you teach someone, you become a better student, because communicating your thoughts forced you to think though a logical method of transmitting the information... so you get twice the benefit.

Flash or index cards are a good way to study for the CompTIA exams. I would write my own questions also and the answer would go on the back along with a brief explanation.

Alternatively you could use the Proprofs website.There are probably many flashcards on there from other people but again don't know about the quality. You could create your own on there.
Don't get too hung up about acroynms. As long as you have a general idea of what SATA, IDE,SCSI etc are that is good enough.
The most number of acroynms and standards are the ones in the wireless industry.It's pure madness. Net+ is nice and easy for acroynms in comparision.

I've found flash cards to be a very effective learning tool. I found a great cross platform flash card program called Anki while I was studying the A+ acronyms.

It has some great features. You can easily make your own custom decks and share them if you choose. There are also many pre made decks available online that you can download. There is a complete 2009 A+ Acronym set that I made and shared. When I get to Net+ I will do that set too if no one else has yet. All around, I highly recommend Anki whether on Windows, Linux, or OSX. All the desktop versions are free. The iPad/iPhone apps are not free.

I have always made my own, but I think Mike Myers books come with software that have a flashcards to study.
