Introduction to Personal Computers

We talked earlier about cooling fans on our CPU, but just as our CPUs get very hot, all of these different chips on the motherboard also get hot. You’ll find on almost every computer there are cooling fans. My server has 3 different cooling fans on it. You’ll find on your desktop that you’re using at home may only have one cooling fan. These days there are even specialized systems that have no cooling fans! But on most computers, and certainly in servers and desktop computers, you’ll find there are quite a few fans. Sometimes there are big fans, sometimes there are small fans, and they work by pulling the cool air into the system and blowing the warmer air out of the system.

  1. Very nice job! I have watched the first two thus far and am very impressed by your own words just because it’s free does not mean it has to be inferior. This applies to what I have seen thus far. I have scoured the web trying to find anything that would be valuable to obtaining the cert. And this is the one place I found that I have come back to and will recommend others to visit as well.

    Great job, Mr Messer.

  2. Hello,

After seeing some videos on Youtube, I came across your website. Wow, is what I’ve got to say about it! Very in depth, interesting and showcased in a professional way.

    1. I completely agree. I can’t imagine how I would make the approach to A+ if I hadn’t come across Professor Messer’s site.

Thanks for the nice video. I work as an Electronics Technician at the space center. I want to add something to it. If someone is opening their computer, make sure it is unpluged for safety. Do not touch anything inside unless you are wearing a ESD ground strap. It does not take much to damage componets and your computer. I am working for my BSIT and taking A+ at a college this fall. Your videos are a good extra study guide to go with my college course. Thanks again.
