Control my media access

You are installing a new wireless network. Which of these would be the best use of media access control filtering?

A) You need to restrict video streaming

B) You want to limit the reach of the wireless signal

C) You want to prevent others from seeing the wireless network name

D) You want to limit physical device access to the wireless network

E) And it will still have performance issues each time someone makes popcorn in the break room

The answer: D) You want to limit physical device access to the wireless network

MAC address filtering limits access to the wireless network based on the physical address of a wireless adapter. Although this is a good control mechanism, it fails as a security measure because of the ease of spoofing MAC addresses.
