Cooling the Death Star

Your diagnostic software is reporting that your computer’s CPU is getting hotter than the Death Star’s Super Laser. The CPU already has a heat sink, but it doesn’t appear to be working very well. What should you check to ensure the heat sink is optimally cooling your CPU? Pick three.

A) Check that all fans are working properly

B) Make sure all vents are clear from obstruction

C) Make sure your memory modules are using the correct clock rate

D) Ensure the proper amount of thermal grease is on the CPU

E) May the 4th be with you!

The answer: A) Check that all fans are working properly, B) Make sure all vents are clear from obstruction, and D) Ensure enough thermal grease is on the CPU

Your computer’s cooling system works together to keep temperatures low. If your fans can’t pull air through the computer, then the heat sinks can’t dissipate the heat into the air.
