You would like to connect your computer to a shared folder on a central file server. What command line option should you use to connect to the Windows share?

A) NET USE

B) NET SHARE

C) NET FILE

D) NET SESSION

The answer: A) NET USE

The NET USE command allows you to connect or “map” an unused drive letter to a shared folder on a device over the network. This drive mapping can also be completed from the Windows Explorer in the graphical user interface.

The incorrect answers:

B) NET SHARE
While NET USE allows you to use an existing share, the NET SHARE command allows you to create a share that can be used by others.

C) NET FILE
The NET FILE command lists open files and gives you the option for closing the locked files from the command line.

D) NET SESSION
The NET SESSION command provides a way to manage sessions to your local computer. The NET SESSION command can list or disconnect individual sessions to your system.
