How many SATA drives can you connect to a single SATA motherboard interface?

A) One

B) Two

C) Four

D) Sixteen

E) I’ll stick an access point on a hard drive and get wireless data!

The answer: A) One

Unlike PATA or SCSI, a SATA interface supports only a single drive. Because of this engineering limitation, it’s not uncommon to find motherboards with four to eight built-in SATA ports.
