Out of CAS

What does the CAS latency value mean?

A) The hard drive delay between disk reads

B) The number of clock cycles between a memory request and receiving the data

C) The refresh delay on CRT displays

D) The packet delay to a web site

E) The time between the alarm ringing and the actual stumbling from the bed

The answer: B) The number of clock cycles between a memory request and receiving the data

The Column Address Strobe (or Column Address Select) Latency is the amount of time between a memory request sent and the data received. The lower the CL number, the fewer the clock cycles and the faster the data transfer.
