Turn left at the white-orange wire

Which of these tools would be the best choice for building a wire map?

A) Loopback plug

B) Punch-down tool

C) Toner probe

D) 110 block

E) Cable tester

F) I don’t think the maps in my phone can help with cables

The answer: E) Cable tester

A wire map is a diagram that shows the wiring pins between the connectors on a cable. For example, a straight through cable would have a wire map that shows pin 1 connecting to pin 1, pin 2 connecting to pin 2, and so on. A cable tester would put a remote device on one end of the cable and the tester on the other end, and the tester would then display the dispositions of the individual wires.
