What are some good post-upgrade tasks?

You’ve just completed upgrading a Windows 2000 computer to Windows XP. Which one of these tasks would not be typically performed at the end of the upgrade?

A) Apply the latest Windows XP service pack

B) Install all Windows XP security patches

C) Update any Windows XP applications

D) Backup the \Program Files directory

E) Drink heavily

The answer: D) Backup the \Program Files directory

The process of backing up the system should have occurred BEFORE the upgrade process, not afterwards. Of course, you’ll want to make sure the normal daily backup process is now in place for the new operating system installation.

Answer E) is optional.
