What goes in that slot?

You are replacing some DDR3 memory in a desktop computer. What memory type would you expect to use?

A) SIMM

B) DIMM

C) RIMM

D) SO-DIMM

E) The big kind with the chips on it

The answer: B) DIMM

Desktop memory on most modern systems uses DIMM format memory, although you might find some older systems that might use RIMM modules. It’s nearly impossible to find SIMM in active use, and SO-DIMM is almost exclusive to laptop computers.
