What processes are required after an initial Windows XP installation?

You’re just completed a fresh install of Windows XP onto a computer system. Which of these options would be recommended after just completing a Windows XP installation?

A) Installation of the latest Windows XP service pack

B) Installation of any pending security patches

C) Installation of hardware driver updates

D) All of the above

The answer: D) All of the above

Once you complete an initial installation of Windows XP, you’re not quite done with the process. Before putting the computer into any modern network, you’ll want to be sure it’s updated with the latest service pack and all of the latest security patches. Subjecting an unpatched computer to a modern network can cause it to be infected in a matter of minutes, so you’ll want to be sure it’s separated from the network until it’s completely updated.
