Which of these options should not be used to clean a motherboard?
A) Remove large dust collections with a vacuum
B) Use air to blow out smaller layers of dust
C) Use a brush to dislodge dust
D) Use your finger to dislodge dust from smaller components
The answer: D) Use your finger to dislodge dust from smaller components
A motherboard contains many small components, and many of the components are only mounted onto the surface of the board. A slight bit of pressure can easily dislodge the components, and physically touching the components could potentially discharge static electricity and permanently damage the silicon.
