Where’s your wireless network?

Your organization provides a wireless network for mobile connectivity in the office. To use the network, the wireless network information must be manually added to the configuration of each wireless device. You notice that other computers can’t see the wireless network unless they are also manually configured. Which wireless configuration can cause this?

A) WEP encryption

B) MAC filtering

C) WPA encryption

D) SSID broadcasts

E) The Cone of Silence

The answer: D) SSID broadcasts

Service Set Identifier broadcasts are used to advertise the existence of a wireless access point. If the SSIDs are disabled, other wireless devices can’t see the wireless network by default.
