Why yes, that’s my ABBA channel

Which of these would be the result of disabling an SSID broadcast?

A) Your access point will be invisible in a list of wireless networks

B) Wireless encryption will be disabled on your network

C) All IP addressing on your wireless network must be configured manually

D) All web traffic will have priority over all other wireless traffic

E) As long as my Pandora works, I’m fine with it

The answer: A) Your access point will be invisible in a list of wireless networks

The SSID is the name of your wireless network, and your access point must advertise this name if you want it to appear in a list of available wireless networks. Disabling the SSID makes your access point invisible in a list, but someone who knows the name of the network can still connect to it.
