Yelling across the network

Which of these network types would be most likely categorized as a WAN?

A) A point-to-point connection to an office in another country

B) A fiber connection to a building across a campus

C) A Metro Ethernet connection to a remote office on the other side of town

D) A link between a mobile device and an automobile

E) Maybe my caps lock is just broken

The answer: A) A point-to-point connection to an office in another country

A WAN (Wide Area Network) is a link that extends across large distances, usually beyond a metropolitan area. These links are almost always slower data links than what might be available between local devices. It’s common to see point-to-point or MPLS connections to sites across a WAN.
