Introduction to Personal Computers

There are a lot of different components on the motherboard! The first one we’ll examine is the CPU or central processing unit. My server has two CPUs on it. Most home desktops and laptop computers generally only have a single CPU. You can’t really see the CPUs on my motherboard because they’re covered by fans. That’s pretty standard these days on the modern CPUs, because the CPUs get very, very hot. One way to cool those CPUs is to stick a fan right on top of it and have it run all the time. Those fans can also be designed to run faster as the CPU gets hotter, so they’re very smart in the way that they operate.

  1. Very nice job! I have watched the first two thus far and am very impressed by your own words just because it’s free does not mean it has to be inferior. This applies to what I have seen thus far. I have scoured the web trying to find anything that would be valuable to obtaining the cert. And this is the one place I found that I have come back to and will recommend others to visit as well.

    Great job, Mr Messer.

  2. Hello,

After seeing some videos on Youtube, I came across your website. Wow, is what I’ve got to say about it! Very in depth, interesting and showcased in a professional way.

    1. I completely agree. I can’t imagine how I would make the approach to A+ if I hadn’t come across Professor Messer’s site.

Thanks for the nice video. I work as an Electronics Technician at the space center. I want to add something to it. If someone is opening their computer, make sure it is unpluged for safety. Do not touch anything inside unless you are wearing a ESD ground strap. It does not take much to damage componets and your computer. I am working for my BSIT and taking A+ at a college this fall. Your videos are a good extra study guide to go with my college course. Thanks again.
