What is a CL value when referring to memory specifications?

A) The calculation layer used in an application subsystem

B) The clock speed of main memory

C) The number of parity bits in a memory module

D) The number of clock cycles between a memory request and data received

E) It was my understanding that there would be no math

The answers: D) The number of clock cycles between a memory request and data received

CAS Latency (CL) refers to the amount of clock cycles that occur between the initial request for data in memory and the reception of the data. The lower the CL value, the fewer clock cycles required to retrieve data and therefore the faster the data transfer.
