Introduction to Personal Computers

Let’s start with the power supply, at the bottom left. That power supply on the backside, facing the outside, has a place where we can plug in our power cords and get power from the wall outlet. The power supply is responsible for providing power to our motherboard, our hard drives, our floppy drives, and anything else that might be inside of our computer. You can see on the right side of that power supply there are some black wires, some yellow wires, and some red wires coming out. Those are the wires that carry voltages to power other components in the system. If you followed them back, you’d see them plugged into the motherboard, floppy drives, and our hard drives.
